Marie has over 35 years retail/wholesale grocery experience. Early in her career, she spent two years as a nurse at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas, TX. Soon realizing her true passion was teaching and associate development, Marie turned her focus back to retail.

While still in school, Marie began her grocery career as a cashier and advanced by gaining extensive experience in every department of a supermarket, including Price File Maintenance and Receiving. Marie’s training skills were acknowledged early on when the VP of Safeway’s Retail Operations asked her to facilitate her “50 Ways to Steal” for all of Safeway’s Southwest Division receivers and auditors. Marie soon achieved the position of store manager for the Safeway Dallas Division and continued to gain experience in supermarkets with volume ranging from $40,000 to $750,000 per week. She was then promoted to the corporate office as division trainer, soon followed by a promotion to human resource manager.

Marie made the switch to the wholesale side of the grocery business for the opportunity to reach a wider audience. Her career in wholesale began as a liaison between the wholesaler’s Accounting and IT Departments and the supermarkets they serviced. She gained additional experience in wholesale as a risk management/loss prevention specialist before being promoted to director of policies, procedures, and new program development.

Marie brings her workshops to life by drawing from her employment experience with major supermarket chains as well as independent store operators, and the wholesalers that serve them.

Marie’s training background includes development and presentation of programs on several retail grocery topics. Marie attended East Texas State University and

is a certified instructor for the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals®, Super Safe Mark (FMI), and ServSafe® Instructor and registered ServSafe proctor for the National Restaurant Association Solutions (NRA Solutions).
